Two works, "Woven Passage to the Clouds" and "Sky Ring", designed by Dr. Zhu Peidong, co-founder and Chief Architect of line+, have both been named finalists for the 2025 AZ Design Awards, competing for the final awards in the categories of Urban Intervention & Infrastructure and Architectural Design - Experiential Installations.
💬 "The activation and development of rural scenic areas require both grounding in local history and natural landscapes, while also incorporating forward-looking, imaginative, and vibrant elements." — Dr. Zhu Peidong
"Woven Passage to the Clouds" and "Sky Ring" are the first-phase projects of the Xiayanbei Scenic Area's enhancement initiative. Set against the unique cultural heritage and natural landscapes of Xiayanbei Village, these projects adopt two distinctly different design strategies: localized (underground) and differentiated (elevated). As the gateway and super-brand for the scenic area, these installations enrich the visitor experience narrative while also bringing unique daily enjoyment to the local community.
🗞️ The AZ Design Awards, founded in 2011 by the renowned North American architecture and design magazine AZURE, is now entering its 15th edition. With its extensive influence and authoritative judging system, it has become a recognized benchmark of excellence in the international design and architecture field, attracting many highly innovative designers. The competition is fierce with a very low success rate. The awards cover 31 professional categories and aim to recognize outstanding works in design concepts, technological innovation, and sustainability. In 2025, a total of 86 projects from around the world have been shortlisted, including internationally renowned firms such as Neri&Hu, OPEN, Studio MK27, 3XN, and Fernanda Canales.
